Create a DAO

Creating a DAO in the XDAO TON Mini App takes just a few minutes.

Creating a DAO in XDAO TON deploys a smart contract that its members — GPs (Governance Participants) — jointly manage. A DAO's GP token has no price, but it's what grants voting rights, and the amount held in a wallet determines a member's voting weight.

Open the XDAO TON Mini App in Telegram (bot @xdao_ton_bot) and connect a TonConnect wallet (for example, Tonkeeper). In the side menu, click Create DAO.

Enter a DAO name and DAO token symbol — the symbol of your DAO's own GP token (jetton).

Unlike the EVM version of XDAO, a TON DAO's name and symbol aren't frozen forever: they can be changed later with a Redesign DAO proposal.

Optionally, upload a DAO avatar right away — a logo or any other image.

Choose a GP distribution mode — the Equal or Proportional tab:

  • Equal — add GP wallet addresses. Each receives 1 GP token, so every member's voting weight is equal.
  • Proportional — add wallet addresses and specify a GP token amount for each ("Update GP distribution"); voting weight is proportional to the token amount.

Your own wallet is added to the list first by default.

If your address isn't included in the GP list, the app will warn you in a separate window before creating the DAO — after deployment you won't be able to manage that DAO as a GP.

Set the general consensus — the minimum share of GP votes required for a proposal to be executed. In Equal mode this is a GP count, "X of Y"; in Proportional mode it's a percentage of the total GP token supply (51% by default). For more, see the guide "How to choose general consensus?".

Click Create, review all GP addresses in the confirmation window, and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Creating a DAO costs a network fee (gas) in TON; the app shows the exact amount before you confirm the transaction. There's also a Multiple DAOs mode — deploy up to 255 identically configured DAOs in a single transaction (not available for all wallet versions).

After a successful creation, a DAO created screen appears and you land on the new DAO's page. If the transaction fails, the app shows DAO creation failed with an option to try again.
