Early Finish Crowdfunding

A crowdfunding campaign can end in two ways.

Natural completion doesn't require a vote: as soon as the campaign's end date arrives (or the hard cap is reached), the "Finish & Send Funds" button becomes available to any user. If the soft cap was reached, the campaign is deemed successful and the funds go to the Destination Sub-Wallet; if not, the campaign is considered failed (see the refund section below).

If the soft cap has already been reached but the end date is still far off, GPs can close the raise early with the Early Finish Crowdfunding vote (early_finish_crowdfunding) — for example, to put the raised funds to work sooner rather than waiting for the original deadline.

Open the campaign on the Crowdfunding tab. If the soft cap has already been reached and the campaign is still active, you (as a GP) will see an "Early Finish Available" block with a Propose Early Finish button.

Click Propose Early Finish — this opens an Early Finish Crowdfunding-type vote, pre-filled with the campaign's address and its LP Manager.

Specify the Voting Duration and click Create Proposal.

Early finish is only available once the campaign has already reached its soft cap. If the minimum goal hasn't been reached yet, Early Finish can't be proposed.

GPs vote on the proposal; once general consensus is reached, it's executed: the campaign ends, and the raised funds are sent to the Destination Sub-Wallet — the same as with natural completion.

If the soft cap isn't reached

If the soft cap isn't reached by the end date, the campaign is deemed failed. No DAO vote is required for this — the LP Manager handles it automatically:

  • every contributor who put in funds can independently claim a full refund of their contribution — each investor performs this action themselves from their personal Helper contract for that campaign;
  • GPs and the DAO neither should nor can initiate a refund on behalf of other contributors.
